Hello! We are Emma, James, Kiran and Kai, an Australian/Swiss family living in a small Swiss village.
Most of the time we're behind a screen - working, watching videos, mucking around... but also planning our next hike or trail run, either in the hills behind our home or for our next family holiday.
We've had many wonderful vacations thanks to inspiring and helpful travel blogs and reviews from other travelers. But when it comes to hiking, we're often frustrated by the lack of good information available.
So my hope here is to both inspire and help fellow hikers find – and do – some of the most beautiful hikes around the world.
Hiking guides
You'll find trail maps, information and photos for the best hikes and walks we've done in different countries. The information on what to take and what to expect is based on you doing the hike during its main season – usually summer. Be aware though that conditions can change quickly (see the disclaimer below).
Travel guides
This site is not intended as a travel blog, but there are few random travel posts even so.
And even if you're not a keen hiker, you can still use the information here to plan a lovely holiday in the mountains.
Disclaimer
I've given an indication of difficulty for each hike – but keep in mind that my definition of "moderate" might be anything from "easy" to "extremely strenuous" to you!
Be sure that the hike matches your level before you set out. Plus conditions change – with time, the season and the weather on the day. Be prepared for the current conditions, not those on the day we did the hike.
Finally, I was brought up hiking and James has a lot of mountaineering experience... so we know what to do in the mountains. If you have never gone hiking before then I strongly suggest you go with someone who has experience. Hikers die every year after being caught out and/or under-prepared. Please don't be one of them!
